MOONG KI DAL ( The way my hubby like's it )


Ing :-

Moong Dal - 3/4 cup ( wash and keep aside )
Onion- 1 medium size ( cut fine)*
Tomato-1 Big ( cut fine)*
Coriander Leaves chopped- 2 tbs*
Coriander Powder- 1 and 1/2 tsp*
Cummin Powder- 2 tsps*
Turmeric Powder- 1 and 1/2 tsp*
Chilli Powder - 1/2 tsp*
Asafoetida- a pinch*
Garam Masala- 1/2 tsp*
Salt - as per your requirement *
Water - 5 cups*

For Tempering-
Oil or Ghee- ( i use 3 tbsps of ghee )
Green chillies- 4 ( chopped fine)
Mustard Seeds- 1 and 1/2 tsp
Cummin Seeds- 1 tsp
Garlic- 4 flakes ( finely chopped)
Ginger chopped - 1 tbps
Curry leaves - about 8

Method :-
In a pressure cooker place Dal and all the ing marked with an * and boil ( 5 whistles) . Take off the flame n leave covered for a while till steam is all let out.

In a pan ,heat oil /ghee and once hot add the ginger n garlic n fry till light brown. Then throw in all the other ing and fry for a bit. Take off the flame .Open the Pressure Cooker and Pour the Tempered mixture into the Dal n stir well..Garnish with a sprig of LOVE n serve hot with steamed Rice.
